A Navien tankless water heater heats water only when a fixture creates demand. Rather than storing and repeatedly reheating a tank of water, the system activates its burner and heat exchanger when hot water is needed, then shuts down when demand ends.
Navien offers condensing and non-condensing gas tankless water heaters. Its NPE-2 condensing lineup includes NPE-A2 Advanced and NPE-S2 Standard models. Current NPE-2 equipment offers efficiency up to 0.96 UEF, input capacities up to 199,900 BTU per hour, dual stainless-steel heat exchangers, and indoor or outdoor wall-mounted installation options.
NPE-A2 models include Navien’s ComfortFlow® system, which combines a built-in recirculation pump, buffer tank, and controls. This is designed to reduce waiting for hot water and limit the cold-water sandwich effect that can occur during frequent on-and-off use.
Optional NaviLink™ controls allow compatible Navien equipment to be monitored and controlled remotely. Depending on the model and piping arrangement, homeowners may also use on-demand or scheduled recirculation to reduce the time required for hot water to reach distant fixtures.
